Nothing Is Stronger Than Real Love
A letter to Jade and Daniel: on choosing the hard right thing, fighting with love instead of anger, and the promise a father keeps.

October 28, 2026
There's a picture of the three of us at Chuck E. Cheese.
Both of you have those paper party hats on, the ones with the little mouse ears and the sparkly pom pom on top. Jade, you're holding up one finger like you're about to tell the whole world something important. Daniel, you've got your chin resting on my shoulder and your arm wrapped around my neck, giving the camera that little sideways look of yours. And I'm right there in the middle with my hat on, smiling wide.
Nobody looking at that picture would know what this season of my life has been. That's the point. You two are the reason I smile like that.
So this is for you. Not for anybody else. For you, for whenever you're old enough to read it and understand.
I believe you chose me. Out of everybody in this world, you picked me to be your Daddy. That is the greatest assignment I have ever been given, and I carry it with pride every single day.
Some decisions in life are hard. I had to make one of the hardest ones. A strong home starts with a whole person, and sometimes doing what's right means doing what hurts. When the time comes and you look back on this season, I want you to know this: your Daddy chose the hard right thing, and then stayed standing.
There will be hard days for you too. When they come, keep your head up, keep your mouth kind, and keep moving.
Real love doesn't quit when it gets heavy. It doesn't yell to win. It doesn't keep score. It shows up, again and again. And when you fight with love instead of anger, you come out on top. Every time. Because nothing is stronger than real love.
Here's what I want you to carry with you:
Respect people. All people. The ones who are kind to you and the ones who aren't. Respect says more about who you are than about who they are.
Be kind on purpose. Kindness isn't weakness. It takes strength to stay soft in a hard world.
Work hard. Nothing you're proud of will come easy, and that's what makes it worth having.
Know yourself. Pay attention to how you feel, how you act, and how you make others feel. Self awareness is a superpower.
Make mistakes, and own them. You will mess up. So will I. I already have. What matters is that you say "that was me," make it right, and do better next time. That's what a strong person does.
Love out loud. Hug people. Tell them they matter. Don't be shy about affection. I never will be with you.
We aren't perfect. Nobody is. But we strive for it anyway, because reaching for your best is how you grow into it.
Jade, you light up every room you walk into. Your heart is big, your mind is sharp, and the way you care for people already tells me who you're going to become.
Daniel, your laugh could fix almost anything. Your curiosity, your energy, the way you look at the world like it's full of things waiting to be discovered: never lose that.
Everything I build, every early morning, every late night, every time I choose patience over pride, is for you. I'm not just telling you how to live. I'm trying to show you.
No matter what happens, no matter where life takes us, hear me clearly:
I love you.
I'm proud of you.
I'm not going anywhere.
I will always fight for you, and I will always fight the right way. That's a promise.
Love always,
Daddy Silverio
